Prohibited and Restricted Items Policy

It is Merchant’s responsibility to ensure that their proposed item complies with all laws and is allowed to be listed for sale in accordance with Aladdin’ terms and policies before listing the item on the selling platform. For the Merchants’ convenience, Aladdin has provided below a non-exhaustive guideline on prohibited and restricted items that are not allowed for sale on Aladdin. Aladdin will update this guideline from time to time where necessary. Please visit this page regularly for updates.

  1. BREACH OF OUR TERMS OF SERVICE

The act of breaching this Prohibited and Restricted Items Policy may lead the Merchant to a range of adverse acts, including but not limited to any or all of the following:

  • Listing deletion
  • Limits placed on Account privileges
  • Account suspension and termination
  • Legal actions
  1. LIST OF PROHIBITED AND RESTRICTED ITEMS

(i)         Animal and wildlife products (including but not limited to, wild animals and endangered species);

(ii)        Artifacts and antiquities;

(iii)       Used cosmetics and medical samples;

(iv)       Counterfeit products, including, without limitation, currency and stamps;

(v)        Credit and debit cards;

(vi)      Currency or credits including, without limitation, digital currency or credits, and stored value cards;

(vii)      Drugs, and drug use tools, narcotics and psychotropic substances for illegal purposes, precursor chemicals for illegal purposes, prescription-only medicines, pharmacy-only medicines, drug-like substances and associated paraphernalia. (viii)     Telecommunications equipment not licenced with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and electronic surveillance equipment and other related electronic equipment such as cable television, de-scramblers, radar scanners, monitoring systems for traffic signals, wiretapping equipment and bugging equipment for telephone;

(ix)       Embargoed goods;

(x)        Firearms, weapons, gases, flammable items (liquid and solid), and explosive items including, without limitation, pepper spray, replicas, and stun guns;

(xi)       Alcohol;

(xii)      Non-Halal and Prohibited Food: For the safety of our Users, Merchants may not list the following food and food-related items on our Platform:

  1. Listings containing medicinal statements – that is the assertion that the item is intended for use in the diagnosis, cure, mitigation, treatment or prevention of human and/or animal disease, contraception, induction of anaesthesia or otherwise preventing or interfering with the normal functioning of the physiological function, whether permanently or temporarily, and whether by termination, reduction or interference with the normal functioning of the physiological function, such as pharmaceutical drugs, contact lenses, misbranded dietary supplements;
  2. Noxious food items – Food containing any illegal substance or substances in excess of the permissible proportions, adulterated food without informing the consumer thoroughly of the essence of the transaction during the time of sale;
  3. Non-pasteurised dairy products;
  4. Wild mushrooms;
  5. Any other food items hazardous to human health; and
  6. Any other non-Halal food such as pork, bacon and non-slaughtered animals.

(xi)       Food which do not fall into the above category of Prohibited Food must comply with these minimum standards and guidelines:

  1. Expiration dates – all food items with an expiration or “use by” date must be clearly and appropriately marked. It is prohibited to list expired food items;
  2. Sealed containers – all food and related products sold on the Platform should be wrapped or sealed to ensure that Customer can detect signs of tampering or defect;
  3. Perishable food items – Merchants listing perishable items should clearly describe the steps they will take in the item description to ensure that the products are appropriately packaged; and
  4. Halal certified and /or labelled products – all food and related products sold on the Platform should have approved Halal label which is approved by Aladdin and certified relevant Halal Certification Body.

(xiii)     Government or Public Authority related items such as badges, insignia or uniforms;

(xiv)     Human parts or remains;

(xv)      Lock-picking devices;

(xvi)     Lottery tickets;

(xvii)    Pesticides, oxidizing substances, organic peroxides, toxic and infectious substance, radioactive materials, corrosive items and miscellaneous dangerous goods;

(xviii)    Potentially infringing items: Items including but not limited to replicas, counterfeit items, and unauthorised copies of a product or item which may infringe any third-party copyrights, trademarks, or other intellectual property rights;

(xix)     Services: Unless expressly permitted by Aladdin, on Aladdin’s platform, the provision of services, including but not limited to services that are sexual, illegal in nature or in breach of the Terms of Service, shall be prohibited;

(xx)      Slot machines;

(xxi)     Recalled items;

(xxii)    Shares, stock, other securities and stamps;

(xxiii)    Tobacco or tobacco-related products, including, without limitation, nicotine-containing electric cigarettes/e-juices;

(xxiv)   Obscene, seditious or treasonous materials;

(xxv)    Products that a) relate to campaigns, elections, political issues or public discourse issues; (b) support or criticise a politician or political party for or against it; or (c) promote or encourage hatred, crime, bigotry, rebellion or violence in some form;

(xxvi)   Publications, books, films, videos and/or video games in the country of sale and/or distribution that do not comply with applicable laws;

(xxvii) Stolen goods;

(xxviii) Mislabeled goods;

(xxix)   Any other products that are, or that include components that are (i) illegal or restricted under the jurisdiction of the Customer and/or the Merchant or that otherwise promote illegal or restricted activities, or (ii) are found to pose a possible risk to health or safety by any governmental or regulatory authority.

If you see a listing that breaches our policies, please report it to us by clicking the “Report this Product” or “Report this User” in the product or user page drop-down menu. We will investigate thoroughly, and we will send notification via email, system message and push notification to Merchant, when a policy has been breached, to let them know that the listing has been removed from our Platform. We will also send push notification to Customer of the said listing. You are solely responsible for ensuring that you are able to receive push notifications from your phone settings.
